PRIVACY POLICY

How we handle your information.

Last updated 29 September 2026

In short: we collect your details when you ask for one of our reports, we use them to send you the report and to talk to you about our work, and we never sell them to anyone.

01Who we are

Geeks & Experts is a public relations firm based in New York City. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Geeks & Experts. We are the data controller for the information described here.

You can reach us at any time at hello@geeksandexperts.com.

02What we collect

When you request access to one of our research reports, we ask you for:

  • Your first name
  • Your work email address
  • Your company or organisation name
  • Optionally, which of our services you would like to hear about, and the kind of people you would like to meet at our events

We also record when you first requested access, when you last opened the report, how many times you have opened it, and the website that referred you. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention.

We store a small marker in your browser so that you are not asked for your details again on your next visit. This is not an advertising cookie and it is not shared with anyone.

If you take part in one of our surveys, we handle those responses separately and publish only aggregated findings. Individual survey responses are never attributed to a named person or company without explicit permission.

03Why we use it, and your permission

By submitting the access form and ticking the consent box, you agree that we may use the personal data you provide for the following purposes.

PurposeBasis
Giving you access to the report and sending you a copyPerforming what you asked us to do
Sending you future research, reports and event invitationsYour consent
Contacting you about our PR services, sponsorship, co-hosting or a discovery call, including where you ticked one of those boxesYour consent and our legitimate interest in marketing our services to business contacts
Direct outreach from a member of our team by email, phone or professional networks such as LinkedInYour consent and our legitimate interest
Understanding how our reports are read so we can improve themOur legitimate interest
Keeping records of consent and preventing abuse of our systemsLegal obligation and legitimate interest

Marketing and outreach. You are giving us permission to contact you about our services, our events and our research. We will keep this relevant and infrequent, and every message we send will carry a one-click unsubscribe. Withdrawing consent is free, takes effect immediately, and never affects your access to a report you already have.

04Who can see it

Your details are held in a private spreadsheet that only Geeks & Experts staff can open. We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not share it with sponsors, partners or advertisers.

A small number of service providers process data on our behalf under contract, and only to deliver the service:

  • Google Workspace, for storing the contact list and sending email
  • Cloudflare, for hosting the report and protecting it from abuse
  • An email delivery platform, where we send research newsletters

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, safety or property. If our business is ever sold or merged, contact data may transfer as part of that, and we would tell you first.

Some of these providers operate in the United States and elsewhere. Where personal data moves between countries, we rely on the standard safeguards those providers put in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses where they apply.

05How long we keep it

We keep your contact details for as long as you remain interested in hearing from us, and for up to three years after your last engagement with us, such as opening a report or replying to an email. After that we delete or anonymise the record.

If you unsubscribe, we remove you from our mailing list straight away and keep only the minimum needed to make sure we do not contact you again by mistake. You can ask us to delete that too.

06Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal data we hold about you, and give you a copy
  • Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
  • Delete your data
  • Stop using it for marketing, which you can also do from any email we send
  • Restrict or object to how we use it
  • Receive it in a portable, machine-readable format

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, these rights come from the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, and you may also complain to your national data protection authority. If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know, delete, correct and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we will never treat you differently for exercising a right.

Email hello@geeksandexperts.com and we will respond within 30 days.

07Keeping it safe

Access to our contact records is limited to the people who need it, protected by two-factor authentication, and served only over encrypted connections. No system is perfect, but we only ask for data we genuinely need, which is the most effective protection we can offer you.

08Children

Our reports and services are for business audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their details, write to us and we will delete the record.

09Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top will always show the current version. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will email everyone on our list before it takes effect.

10Contact

Questions, requests or complaints about privacy go to hello@geeksandexperts.com. A person will read it, not a queue.
